About the Program

Program Overview

This 1 hour, internet symposium will review and discuss the key studies on assessing and managing metabolic and body shape changes in HIV-positive patients. This symposium will feature an interview of Graeme Moyle, MD, MB, BS, one of the leading experts on metabolic and body shape changes in HIV, by Calvin Cohen, MD, MS, Research Director of CRI New England and Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School.

This program is certified for CME credit for US physicians by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine. This program is for health care providers who treat HIV-positive patients, there are no prerequisites.

Program Note: An application has been submitted to the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) for approval to provide direct EACCME accredited continuing medical education for European participants and is pending.  Currently, participating non-US physicians can receive the specified number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits specific to the program and have these converted to their national CME credit in their specific country, where applicable.  Similarly, non-US health care providers other than physicians can receive a certificate of completion and use this to acquire national credit through their national continuing medical education board/association, where applicable. Learning Objectives

Following this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply key clinical research evaluating ART regimens and strategies;

  2. Discuss the effect of ART regimens and strategies on metabolic and body shape changes;

  3. Use data regarding the assessment and management of metabolic and body shape changes in HIV-positive patients to improve the overall health and appearance of HIV-positive patients;

  4. Select ART regimens that maximize each patient's chance of long-term success and avoidance of metabolic and body shape changes.

There are no fees for participating and receiving credit for these activities.  During the period, December 21, 2009 through December 21, 2010, participants must 1) read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures; 2) study the educational activity; and 3) complete the post-test and evaluation form. 

To answer the questions, click on your selected choice for each answer then proceed to the next question.  We recommend that you print a copy of your answers before you submit them to us.  Once completed, click on the Submit Post-test at the bottom of the page.  Your post-test will automatically be graded.

If you successfully complete the post-test (score of 70% or higher). your certificate will be made available immediately.  Click on View Certificate and print the certificate for your records.  If you received a score of 69% or less, you will receive a message notifying you that you did not pass the post-test.  You may retake the post-test until successful.
