Program Overview

This one-hour Internet symposium will review and discuss the key studies on assessing and managing neuropsychiatric issues in HIV-positive patients. This symposium will feature an interview of Scott Letendre, MD, and Kevin Robertson, PhD, two of the leading experts on neurobehavioral issues in HIV, by Calvin Cohen, MD, MS, Research Director of CRI New England and Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School.

This program is certified for CME credit for US physicians by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine. This program is for health care providers who treat HIV-positive patients, there are no prerequisites.

Program Note: An application has been submitted to the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) for approval to provide direct EACCME accredited continuing medical education for European participants and is pending. Currently, participating non-US physicians can receive the specified number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits specific to the program and have these converted to their national CME credit in their specific country, where applicable. Similarly, non-US health care providers other than physicians can receive a certificate of completion and use this to acquire national credit through their national continuing medical education board/association, where applicable. Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians involved in the care of patients with HIV infection.

Learning Objectives

Following this program, participants should be able to:

Apply key clinical research evaluating ART regimens and strategies in HIV patients with neuropsychiatric issues or complications;
Use data regarding the assessment and management of neuropsychiatric issues to improve the overall health of HIV-positive patients;
Select HIV treatment regimens that maximize each patient's chance of long-term success and avoidance of HIV and neuropsychiatric complications.

Instructions for Participation and Credit

There are no fees for participating and receiving credit for this activity. During the period, March 24, 2010 through March 23, 2011, participants must 1) read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures; 2) study the educational activity; and 3) complete the post-test and evaluation form.

Once completed, click on the Submit Post-test at the bottom of the page. Your post-test will automatically be graded.

If you successfully complete the post-test (score of 70% or higher). your certificate will be made available immediately. Click on View Certificate and print the certificate for your records. If you received a score of 69% or less, you will receive a message notifying you that you did not pass the post-test. You may retake the post-test until successful.
